Government Links| The League acts as an information clearinghouse, lobbying organization and legal resource for Wisconsin municipalities. Its membership consists of 378 villages and all of the 190 cities in the state. The Wisconsin Counties Association understands the intricacies of human services funding, and how the state pushes more and more of the cost onto the property tax. It was the local government group that came out early in support of eliminating some sales tax exemptions -- coupled with a cut in the sales tax rate -- to solve the state's budget problem.
